Are Styling Products Bad For Your Scalp?
Styling products like gels, wax, creams, sprays, and mousse are generally not bad for your scalp. That is, if you use the right hairstyling products for your hair type and you maintain a proper hair care routine.

When choosing styling products, choose what’s best for your hair type and texture. If you have oily hair, you’ll benefit from light and oil-free formulas such as light gels and mousse. Stay away from styling products that give extra hold and shine as they are best for coarse, dry hair.  For fine hair, a dollop of a volumising mousse usually does the trick as too much of a styling product can leave your hair flat and greasy.

If you use styling products regularly, it is important to wash your hair regularly to prevent product build-up. And yes, you can wash it every day but remember to use the right shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner you use affects the overall condition of your hair and scalp. So choose products that are best for your scalp’s condition and your hair type. If you have dry hair and your scalp tends to be dry and sensitive, find ones have moisturising properties for they won’t strip off your scalp’s natural oils. And do not for get to massage your scalp gently as you wash your hair.  This simple step not only unclogs pores and exfoliates dead skin cells, it boosts circulation as well.

In addition to daily cleansing, you also need to use a clarifying shampoo at least once a month to remove any product build-up. Doing so will also give you shinier and fuller-looking hair because clarifying shampoos deeply cleanse your hair, removing residue from the conditioners, styling products, and hair treatments that you use.
