Welcome to McGills hairdressing scalp clinic. We set up this clinic as we are passionate about hair and scalp health and wanted to provide the answers to all your hair and scalp problems.
What is Trichology?
Trichology is the science of the structure, function and diseases of the human hair. Our salon manager Sarah is now heading up our scalp clinic after discovering a passion for trichology during lockdown. Since then she has begun her journey to become an ITEC certified trichologist.
What To Expect at Your Scalp Consultation
Your healthy scalp journey will always start with an in-depth consultation. We will ask you a range of questions about your health, lifestyle, nutrition and hair care routine as well as do a full visual examination of your scalp to help assess your scalp and hair issues. Following your consultation you will receive a full examination report that will include your diagnosis and treatment plan.
Treatments range from home care plans to courses of in salon treatments and are always tailored to your individual needs.

During the first week, the scalp looked very flaky and inflamed with open sores where the client had been scratching. She described her scalp as feeling tight and itchy, and was constantly scratching and picking at it.
After the initial consultation, we decided that the issue was down to extreme sensitivity, which causes inflammation and irritation, and that the Calming range along with the Renewing Pro Boost Superactive would be used to clear the build-up, along with the renewing conditioning treatment.
Over the weeks, the sores began to heal due to the scalp being scratched and picked less. The client described her scalp as feeling less tight.
The last couple of treatments cleared the flakiness and the colour of the scalp appeared healthier. The client said her head was no longer itchy.
By the last treatment, the scalp was completely clear. The client had found a good routine of using the shampoo, conditioner and spray. She also used the spray in-between washes; 2-3 times per week. She said she enjoyed using the products as they were easy to use and pleasant.
The client was happy with the treatments and said that she found them to be effective. She also stated the products are less harsh compared to others she had used in the past.
Based on the fact that there is a noticeable difference in the appearance of the scalp before and after treatment, we have come to the conclusion the treatment has been very successful. Check out the results below.....

Before the treatment, the client had very dry and brittle hair, which had very poor elasticity through the front hairline. It looked dull and frizzy, and laid very limp. The hair was also very fine and had no bounce.
After each treatment, the hair looked increasingly hydrated, smooth and shiny.
Midway through the course of treatments, there was a visible difference in the condition of the hair, even after having it highlighted in-salon. The hair had more bounce and the client noticed that she was getting a better natural curl. Prior to this, her hair was just frizzy with no definition.
At the end of the course, the hair felt softer and had lots of shine and volume. It had more moisture and there was a visible curl in the back.
The client said her hair had more bounce and felt a lot less dry. It also felt thicker and softer, and even her friends had commented on her hair’s improved appearance.
The pictures show that her hair is now less brittle and fine, especially around the front, and the elasticity is much better. There was also a noticeable difference in the scalp, which is moisturised with new hair growth.
The client enjoyed using the products and felt she needed to use less of them than other products. She also said her hair is a lot more manageable so no longer feels the need to use other styling products.
