I am very impressed by McGills. I recently started going there and I find it a happy and friendly place with all staff well respected. I was very pleased with the consultations I had with Heather before my cut and colour. She took so much time over them, listened to what I said and remembered it all. I am now very pleased with both the cut and the colour. I am also delighted that the salon is striving to be as eco friendly and sustainable as possible, that is one of the main reasons I started going there and then I found it to be excellent in every way! Thank you!

This is the second time I’ve had an appointment with Megan & I went in with bleached blonde box dyed hair. My roots were so dark & I had blocks of different shades of yellow to orange all through my hair from the box dye I used at home. Megan has transformed my hair into something I’m proud of! She was so honest & careful with correcting the mess I made. Now after a full head of highlights & a cut then 3 months later a half head of highlights, I can say I’m so happy with the results. Megan’s very warm & friendly, and mainly she’s very talented!! I’m also very happy I found a salon that’s products I can use & don’t get any reaction whatsoever. Im so happy I’ve found a hairdresser I can trust & I trust her opinion. She’s truly done an incredible job on my locks 10/10 Thank You so much Megan!

Been to McGills three times now and I love it! Natasha is lovely and very talented. The first time she cut my hair she made sure to fully walk me through the process and she told me before each step what she did and she would do next. I got so many compliments for my hair afterwards that I had to go back! I have and I will continue to recommend McGills to everyone 🙂

First time at Mcgills and all I can say is fabulous... Lovely salon, nice and relaxing. My stylist Eniko explained everything, asked lots of questions to get an idea of what I wanted. I had cut my own hair (after watching YouTube videos) it was a mess and I hated it.Came out of the salon loving my hair! I will be recommending Mcgills to everyone I know and look forward to going back in 6 weeks.

Robyn colored my hair a few times and I always go back to see her! She is so friendly and she always knows exactly what I want, even when I am not sure myself. I recommend McGills, but especially because she is there, and after years of seeing her I feel like we became friends already. Thanks again Robyn xxx

Heather gave me the perfect haircut - yes, it can happen! After many failed attempts at finding someone who understands what I want, I found the best hairdresser that not only listened to me, but also cut my hair according to my face shape and desired maintenance regime. I left the saloon as chirpy as a bird with my new curly bob and perfect fringe! Thanks xx

Had my first hair appointment with Robyn on Friday. Was greeted with a warm welcome, offered a drink,given magazines and was advised of my wait. My stylist was running behind time. As I immediately felt at ease this wasn't an issue an was happy to wait. Robyn apologised for the wait but was very attentive and patient with me asking me plenty of questions about what I wanted and took the time to explain it to me and then confirm that I was happy. From start to finish the whole experience was enjoyable. The products used on my hair of a very high quality, a very good cut and very calm atmosphere. As a nervous customer looking to find a good hairdressing salon I felt very relaxed in Robyn's hands. Observing others I could tell each stylist had a good rapport with their clients. I can see that I would feel comfortable with any of the stylists here. I feel I have found a salon I want to come back too from the ambience of the place to their ethos to the skills of the stylists. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a high quality hair salon.

My appointment is in a few days but I wanted to leave a review to say that I am so impressed with the website, facebook and instagram pages. Why? Because like most people I am nervous when it comes to finding a new hairdresser. After all, we are putting our trust(and our hair!) in the hands of someone we don't know. However, the website is so informative from descriptions of hairstyles to hair colouring, from services to blogs. But what really grabbed my attention is the sustainability and eco-friendly awareness of the owners and the team and how they are putting this into action. I actually took the time to read each section and this gave me the confidence to give this salon a shot over the numerous salons in Edinburgh. I am nervous but excited at the same time about my hair appointment. So fingers crossed!!

Very happy with my first visit to McGills, and have already booked in to maintain my hair and potentially have it coloured. Robyn did a great job with my long-overdue trim and put in some layers. She explained the products she was using, which smelled great, and have transformed my hair already, so much so that I purchased some to keep my hair in good condition. I initially decided to book in at McGills as they are eco-friendly and cruelty free, which is great, I'm so pleased to have found a salon with these values! The whole thing was an enjoyable process from start to finish, and well worth the money- very reasonably priced! Many thanks again!

Loved my first visit to McGills! It won’t be my last! Eniko cut my hair and she took time to talk through what I wanted and what issues I have with my hair etc.! She explained all of the products and what she was doing and why and took time to make sure I was 100% happy! Love the sustainable products! The eco-friendly and sustainable reputation brought me to McGills and the brilliant experience will bring me back!

A big thank you to McGills for coming to the rescue at our charity event this afternoon. Gary came across to Central hall and cut the hair of people who are struggling with issues of poverty on a busy Saturday in the Salon. Everyone was delighted. They have also cut my hair and I can testify they are brilliant hairdressers as well as having big hearts!

First experience in this salon today, having hair cut and styled by the lovely Taylor. Very happy with my new cut, and with his friendly professional consultation -asking all the right questions made me confident he understood what I needed, and he kept me informed throughout the process. Looking forward to next visit - all the staff were helpful and highly proficient with good quality equipment. Salon spacious, music good and not jarring, with very nice decor, ambience, and super-handy for bus stops!

Now , all I wanted was to say "hi " to my awesome hairdressers Garry and Heather who cut and coloured my hair for years back in Oxford , so I was visiting Edinburgh and walked into their salon and they were holding an event " Kebelo " which transforms your hair . I was so impressed by the demo and education and I consider myself as mega fussy . I was so lucky that Heather and Garry fit me in 2 hrs before they are actually open their salon(customer service that is !!!) Had the Kebelo treatment done , and I am loving my hair , must have treatment! It's shiny, glossy , falls easily into place , feels great ! Before it was frizzy and dry , hard to manage. So if your hair is hard to handle, that's the treatment to have . Once again , Garry and Heather are the best and I will definitely travel from London to Edinburgh again to have my hair done !

Can’t recommend this salon enough - Heather did my balayage/cut/treatment and I’m so happy with the results, as well as the fact that she put the health of my hair as her priority. The whole team of staff were friendly & so accommodating, very happy to have found them

Cannot recommend McGills enough for their ethos and attention to customer happiness. I originally went to McGills for a balayage in time for summer. I naturally have very straight, black hair that is quite difficult to lift. I had been last year and Maya had done a wonderful job. This time I booked with Geles who was lovely and attentive. I left the salon and the balayage was perhaps a bit ashy compared to what I had in mind. I wear my hair very straight and middle parted so there is little forgiveness if any colour appears unblended or a bit sudden. Garry contacted me asking if I was happy and I asked for a wee fix. McGill’s customer service is faultless, no questions were asked and I was rebooked in for another session to get exactly what I wanted. This time I was with James who has an incredible eye for detail. He made me feel so welcome and this is not always the case with other salons if you are unhappy with the original result. I am so happy with what James has done; my hair is now much more blended and as warm as I originally envisioned. I will be rebooking with James to go lighter this summer for sure. I have already recommended him to friends who wanting to go lighter!

Really lovely salon, Ellie was chatty and welcoming and she cut my hair just how i wanted. My hair feels super smooth and healthy!

Had a lovely and very accurate colour consultation with Heather leading me to a beautiful job done by Robyn, my hair now looks exactly like I wanted it! Garry made me incredibly happy with my haircut and kindly gave me lots of nice advices. Taylor last but not least is a very kind and friendly face! Thanks for the experience! Will be back soon for sure!
