McGills Hairdressing October Newsletter

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Maya for winning the ‘Best Colourist’ award at the 2018 SHABA Awards, which covers the whole of Scotland. This year saw the most votes ever recorded in SHABA’s history and we can’t thank you all enough for taking the time to vote earlier this year. The 2018 award ceromony was held at Glasgow’s Hilton hotel, and was attended and judged by some of the leading icons in the industry. We all had a fantastic night, and even though there was a few sore heads in the morning, it was well worth it.

Sustainable Beauty

Sustainability is one of our core values, and we aim to put as much back into the planet as we take from it. We endeavour to be environmentally friendly in all aspects of our business. We currently recycle 80% of our waste, and we only use farm-grown products from Davines.

“We believe that great business isn’t about going with the flow, but about staying true to who you are and what you believe in. We may not always take the popular route, but we will always be true to the McGill’s brand. Our goal is to be the home of sustainable beauty in Edinburgh.”

Davines Colour Brand: All You Need to Know

Davines’ permanent, cream-based colouring system uses Vibrachrom™ technology to penetrate evenly into the hair structure, providing intense conditioning power and shiny, long-lasting colour. Low in ammonia, flexible and easy-to-use, it’s ideal for covering white hair, reflect-changing, darkening, or lightening. Its also PPD and paraben-free. An ammonia-free colour range is also available for clients who are looking for a more organic approach to colouring their hair.

Even the packaging is a factor in sustainability, which is why Davines has developed a set of guideline principles that strive to create packaging that is as environmentally friendly as the products it contains.

Our packaging choices are based on three fundamental points:

  • Minimising the use of raw materials
  • Use recyclable materials wherever possible
  • Eliminate waste through optimization of logistics and quality control processes

Last month, Maya attended Davines creative colour workshop in London. You will see some photos for her work below.
