What Is Trichology?

Trichology is the science of the hair and scalp. It looks at the structure, function and conditions affecting the hair and scalp.

Sarah developed a passion for trichology during lockdown and went on to become an ITEC certified trichologist. She now heads up our Scalp Clinic at McGills Hairdressing, helping clients find answers to their hair and scalp concerns.

What Happens During Your Scalp Consultation?

Your first appointment will begin with an in-depth consultation. Sarah will ask you about your health, lifestyle, nutrition and haircare routine. She will also carry out a full visual examination of your scalp to help assess what may be causing your concerns.

After your consultation, you will receive a full examination report. This will include your diagnosis and a tailored treatment plan.

Your plan may include homecare advice, recommended products, in-salon treatments or a course of scalp treatments, depending on your individual needs.

What Conditions Can Trichology Help With?

Our Scalp Clinic can help with a range of common hair and scalp concerns, including androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis and folliculitis.

If you are unsure what is causing your scalp or hair concerns, a trichology consultation is a helpful place to start.

Follow-Up Scalp Appointments

Follow-up appointments are also available to support your progress. These appointments allow Sarah to review how your scalp is responding, make any adjustments to your treatment plan and help you continue getting the best possible results.

Follow-up scalp consultations are £15 and can be booked after your initial appointment.
