Giving Warmth & Hope To Those in Need This Winter With Our Salon Initiative

As the chill of winter sets in, we at McGills Hairdressing are proud to launch a special initiative to support people experiencing homelessness in Edinburgh. We’ve teamed up with the incredible charity Social Bite to help provide warmth, comfort, and nourishment to those who need it most, and you can help simply by purchasing one of our charity scratch cards.

How It Works

FoK SocialPost Square Donate£5 V2When you visit the salon this November and December, you’ll be invited to purchase one of our special scratch cards:

  • £3 scratch card – buys a donation towards a meal for someone who is homeless.
  • £5 scratch card – buys a hot meal for a homeless person through Social Bite.

Once you’ve chosen your card, you simply scratch and reveal to see if you’ve won a little treat for yourself.

  • Some cards will win a free K18 treatment (on the £3 card).
  • Others will win a free haircut (on the £5 card).

Every purchase directly helps someone in need and, even if your card doesn’t reveal a prize, you’ll still have made a real difference this winter.

Who Are Social Bite?

Founded in Edinburgh in 2012, Social Bite is a social enterprise dedicated to ending homelessness. Their cafés operate a “Pay It Forward” model, allowing customers to buy meals and drinks in advance for people in need. Today, they provide thousands of free meals every week, as well as homes, jobs, and support for those affected by homelessness.

At McGills, we believe in kindness and community. We know that small actions - like buying a scratch card - can have a big impact. This campaign gives us all a way to spread warmth, compassion, and hope during the colder months.
